The Home Buying Process

1
Select a Community & Home Site

DJK builds in many communities throughout the Chicago suburbs. Let us know some of the things that you are looking for and we will help you select the perfect community that fits your needs. Once you have selected a community, you will visit
and select the perfect site to build your home. Whether it is on your lot or one of our lots, we can help you find the perfect lot! We can also help out in acquiring land that isn't in our inventory.

2
Select A Floor Plan to Customize

You may select a floor plan from our extensive online selection of custom home plans. One of our team members will sit down with you to go over any customizations that you are looking to make to the floor plan or exterior styling. We can alter the elevation or layout of any of our floor plans to give you that exact style that you are looking for. Whether you love craftsmanship, old world, modern tudor, or one of our other distinctive styles, we can make it happen. If you do not find
something you like do not worry! We will design your dream home from scratch, incorporating your ideas and our expertise! We are driven to build the home of your dreams, and nothing less.

3
Build Your Home On Paper

After selecting your home site and floor plan, it is time to build your home on paper. At this time you will sit down with Dan Kittilsen, founder of DJK Custom Homes. You will go over all included features as well as any features that you may wish to add or customize. We will work within your budget to get the home you desire, and with itemized quotes so there is no mystery to our prices, more importantly, no surprises. At the end of this time you will have a great idea of what the final investment price is going to be and make an educated decision to invest in your new home.

4
Finalizing your Design and Submitting for Permits

After a purchase agreement has been completed and financing has been secured, it is now time to work towards our "permit" set of construction plans. You will sit down with Dan to review the floor plans and make any revisions that you see fit. From there, our architects will transfer your visions to the blue prints. There may be several revision sets before you give us the final "go ahead." Once we have the final approval, we will prepare all documentation to submit your plans for permit. It will take approximately 14 days to prepare all necessary documents for permit submittal.

5
Brief Introduction to our Selections Process

At about the same time your permits are getting submitted, our selection's coordinator will meet with you to go over our streamlined selections process for your new home. Our selections coordinator will also go through Builder Trend, our project portal, in order to familiarize you with it's functionality. At this time we will start to narrow down selections so we are ready to begin construction once permits are recieved.
